RESERVE/GENERAL PERIODICALS SERVICES |
Material and Loan Periods
All Princeton University faculty, staff and students, their spouses, partners and dependents are eligible to borrow books from the Reserve Department. All users must present a University ID card, with current year validation, in order to borrow books. The following loan periods pertain to the Reserve / General Periodicals Services Department.
- Required readings for undergraduate courses (including articles, coursepackets ,and private copies): Request at the Reserve Desk by call number.
- Loan Period - 3 hours
- Overnight loans begin 3 hours before the Reserve Desk closes and items are due back one hour after the Reserve Desk opens the next day.
Optional readings for undergraduate courses. Request at the Reserve Desk by call number.- Loan Period - Due next day by closing.
Graduate Study Room Reserve Books - may only be checked out at the Reserve Desk for overnight charge. For students not enrolled in the course, Reserve Desk staff member will make the book available.- Loan Period - Overnight only
- Overnight loans begin 3 hours before the Reserve Desk closes and items are due back one hour after the Reserve Desk opens the next day.
Duplicate Reserve Books - these books are available in the Reserve Reading Room but are not currently on reserve for any specific course. Items are shelved in the Reserve Reading Room by call number. Check out at Reserve Desk only.- Loan Period - Four Weeks
Laptops and Internet Cables - these items are available for undergraduate and graduate students only and may not leave Firestone Library. Check out at Reserve Desk only.- Loan Period - Five Hours
- No Overnight Loans
General Periodicals Collection (Current Issues) - the Reserve Reading Room contains over 4000 periodicals in various disciplines. Popular magazines are displayed on the center racks. Check the main catalog for location and holdings information.- Material does not circulate outside of the Reserve Reading Room
Newspapers - the Reserve Reading Room houses over 100 current major newspapers from around the world. The most popular current newspapers are located in our clear display rack. Check the Main Catalog for availability.- Material does not circulate outside of the Reserve Reading Room
Fines
Required readings (3hr) - $1.00 per hour, maximum fine $15.00 per item.
Optional readings (Next day) - $3.00 per day, maximum fine $15.00 per item.
Graduate Study Room Reserve Material - $1.00 per hour, maximum fine $15.00 per item.
Reserve Duplicates (4 Week) - $.25 cents per day
Laptops and Internet Cables - $6.00 per hour, no maximum fine.
Non-returned items are subject to a replacement and lost item processing fee.
