Borrow Direct Search Tips
Entering
the Borrow Direct Database Login to Borrow Direct
- After entering your Princeton barcode number in the patron ID box, click Submit Input to access the Borrow Direct database.
Searching
the Borrow Direct Database
- From the Patron Main Menu, click on Searching / Requesting to search for the book you wish to borrow.
- On the Search Menu, enter the author (last name first), as much of the exact title as you know, or ISBN, and click on Begin Searching.
- On the search results screen, click on the the specific item you want to determine "Availability."
- If Available, click on the Request button and then fill out and submit the Create Request form. Please carefully select your desired pickup location, as it cannot be changed once it's selected.
- On the Create Request screen, please only enter notes in the comments box relating to specific volume or edition needs only. General comments are ignored and will only delay the processing of your request. "Rush" requests are not possible.
- The Request Confirmed screen will display the title information and a Request Number.
- Click the Request button, verify your name, and enter your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail confirming your request, along with additional e-mails about the progress of your request until the book has been returned.
Checking
the Status of your requests
- On the Patron Main Menu, click on the button labeled Review Your Requests. You will then be shown a summary of all your pending requests.
- Find the appropriate request number/item and click on the title link. Status and Due Date appear near the bottom of the Request Details screen.
Logging
out
- Make sure to click on the Quit button on the Borrow Direct menu to close your session.
