Introduction
The F. Wallis Armstrong Collection of Christopher Morley consists of writings
and assorted miscellanea of the American poet, essayist, and novelist Christopher
Morley (1890-1957) collected by the American engineer Francis Wallis Armstrong
(1907-1956).

Size: 0.4 linear feet (1 archival box)
Provenance: These materials were collected by F. Wallis Armstrong,
Jr.
Photocopying, literary rights, and citation: Single photocopies
may be made for research purposes. No further photoduplication of copies
of material in the collection can be made when Princeton University Library
does not own the original. Permission to publish material from the collection
must be requested from the Associate University Librarian for Rare Books
and Special Collections. The library has no information on the status of
literary rights in the collection and researchers are responsible for determining

Collection Description
Scope Note
Consists primarily of Morley manuscripts, letters, galley proofs, and
miscellany. Most of the collection is comprised of both autograph and typed
manuscripts, the majority of which are signed by the author. Manuscripts
of essays include "A Brief Case," "Off the Deep End," and "The Century."
There are also two autograph manuscripts of verse, "Of a Child That Had
a Fever" and "A Basement Love Song." Among the galley proofs are The
Case of Bouck White and Internal Revenue; the latter has been
corrected by the author. In addition, there is Armstrong correspondence
concerning his acquisition of the Morley material, and page proofs of Alfred
P. Lee's A Bibliography of Christopher Morley.
